Ayako TAHARA received the first prize and the audience award in the string section of the 11th Tokyo Music Competition as well as grand prix in all categories of the 9th Romanian International Music Competition.
Not only regularly giving solo recitals in Japan and abroad, but also she has performed as a soloist with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and others. As a chamber musician, she has performed with many well-known artists in Japan and abroad and has also served as a guest principal of an orchestra. She is also active in contemporary music and has commissioned many new works and premiered them in the world and in Japan.
Ayako has appeared on TV Asahi's “Untitled Concert”, NHKBS's “Classical Music Hall”, NHKFM's “Recital Nova”, Miyazaki International Music Festival, Takefu International Music Festival, Spring Festival in Tokyo, Suntory Hall Chamber Music Garden, etc. She is a winner of the 23rd Hotel Okura Music Award.
After graduating from Toho Gakuen School of Music, she completed the Ecole Normale Superieure de Musique de Paris, the Toho Gakuen School of Music Graduate School, and the Detmold School of Music, each at the top of their class. She studied under Hamao Fujiwara, Nobuo Okada, Bruno Pasquier, and Vite Hertenstein.
She is actively involved as a member of Music Dialogue Artist, Ensemble of Tokyo, Aile String Quartet, La Luce String Octet, and Trio Rizzle.
