1. Selection Process

The Preliminary Selection will be conducted on the basis of the data and file submitted by the applicants and a video data recording (MP4, AVI, MOV or WMV) of the applicants performing the set pieces.

2. Repertoire for the Preliminary Selection

Applicants should select three pieces, one each from group (A), (B) and (C) listed below and record them as a video data file (MP4, AVI, MOV or WMV).

  • (A) The first movement of Beethoven's sonata selected from the repertoire for Round 3.
    ※The first and second movements for Op. 101.
    ※Please select to same sonata for the Preliminary Selection you plan to perform in Round 3.
  • (B) Chopin: one piece from either Etude Op. 10 or Op. 25
  • (C) Bartók, Scriabin, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Stravinsky or Prokofiev: one piece from the Etudes


【Filming and recording of the performance】

  • The performance must be filmed and recorded on or after October 1, 2024.
  • The camera must be fixed, and the applicant’s face and hands must be visible at the same time.
  • The performance must be recorded one piece at a time without stopping the camera.
  • Re-edited or processed videos, including the display of names and song titles, are not eligible for judging.
  • Any performance other than the specified piece(s) is not eligible for judging.
  • Data, files, and video files must be uploaded in the format of MP4, AVI, MOV, or WMV.

3. Notification of Results

The results of the Preliminary Selection will be sent to all applicants individually by November 5, 2025. Neither appeals nor objections will be accepted regarding the results.

※ Competition Consent Form for Competition Entry, other detailed information on the competition, and a score of the commissioned piece will be sent to the applicants who pass the Preliminary Selection.
