~We want to establish a piano competition as an international cultural project that will offer an opportunity for young people who aspire to make their dreams come true through music on the world stage~

With such enthusiasm and passion of local volunteers, the Takamatsu International Piano Competition was launched in 2006 as the first international music competition in Shikoku. The competition has been held every four years since then, with the fifth edition to be held in 2022. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those involved in the project for their tremendous support and cooperation.

The competition maintains three significant characteristics. First, we receive the active support of many companies, organizations and volunteers, including Kagawa Prefecture and Takamatsu City. Secondly, as a supplementary prize, many opportunities to perform in Japan and abroad are offered in the hope of the winners playing internationally. Thirdly, the competition is held in Sunport Hall Takamatsu, an outstanding hall that is highly praised by the performers and those involved, against the blue sea and sky of the Seto Inland Sea.

We will continue aiming to provide a higher-quality competition appreciating these characteristics inherited from the first edition. With the slogan "Shared Dreams, Shared Emotions", we will provide continuous support for young pianists to encourage them to fully demonstrate their abilities as well as to contribute to the development of local music culture.

We would appreciate your support in making the 5th Takamatsu International Piano Competition an international music competition that will bring pride to the community. We sincerely look forward to the participation of pianists from around the world and the audience who will support them.
